Following not one but two teased, Subaru finally shared more information about his first eV, Solterra, after the AWD crossover appeared at 2021 La Auto Show. As expected, Solterra shared many similarities with the BZ4x crossover that will come to Toyota. It shouldn’t be surprising because both car makers together developed E-TNGA powertrain in the heart of both electric vehicles.
Subaru Crossover has a lithium battery 71.4 kwh which is estimated that the car maker will provide a distance of 220 miles in one charge. Subaru said it was possible to charge solterra energy cells from death to 80 percent in less than an hour with a quick DC charger. Double motor can produce 215 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft torque.
Solterra will come up with the System of All-Wheel-Drive Symmetrical Subaru and X-Mode features. The latter offers better traction in off-road conditions. In the cabin, there is a 12.3-inch touch screen display that works with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Solterra will also mark the debut of several new safety technology for Subaru. First, there is a “surround-view” camera 360 degrees that the company said allows for better situational awareness. Second, there are features called safe expition assists that will warn your passengers if the vehicle approaches when they will get out of the car.
Subaru will start selling 2023 solterra around in mid 2022. Car makers have not announced the final pricing for Crossover, but are expected to start somewhere in the range of $ 39,000.
