Activision Blizzard CEO will consider leaving if problems aren’t solved quickly

Bobby Kotick reportedly said he could consider resigning as the CEO of Activision Blizzard if he could not fix the company’s cultural problems quickly. According to the Wall Street Journal, Koick held a meeting last week involving senior leadership at Blizzard Entertainment where he said he was “shy” from several incidents that had occurred in the studio under the CEO. He reportedly went to apologize for the handling of the current situation after he was told some employees would not be satisfied unless he had to resign. According to the journal, Koick left the possibility of resignation if he could not fix the company’s problems “at speed”.

We have reached Blizzard Activision for comments.

Calls for Kotick to resign continuously in frequency since the Wall Street Journal published a report last week that accused him of knowing about many incidents of sexual violations that have occurred this year. According to the outlet, Koick was also accused of persecuting women himself, including one episode involving a voice message where he was suspected of threatening to kill his assistant.

After the report came out on November 16, Activision Blizzard’s employees performed the walkout and then started the petition calling for Kotick to be removed as the CEO of the company. Since then, a group of activist shareholders also asked Koick to retreat. In a leaked email, Sony’s interactive entertainment head and the Xbox Division Microsoft said they were disturbed by charges out of the publisher. In the latter case, Phil Spencer reported told employees that he “evaluated all aspects of our relationship with Activision Blizzard and made ongoing proactive adjustments.”

One group of Koverick did not seem to lose support between the Activision Blizzard’s Board of Directors. On the same day Journal published his report, the Council of the Company said “remained convinced that Bobby Kotick correctly discussed the workplace issues considered.”
